Alfresco Extension & Infinity Pool

Three storey house | Oyster Bay 2225

50,000L pool

2 storey entertaining area

Client’s situation & inspiration

Our clients love entertaining and they were having christmas at their place that year so they wanted to create an area their friends and family would enjoy. They wanted to maximise the use of space with a 2nd floor extension where everyone would be able to sit down and enjoy a meal. They also wanted an area where they could sit with friends of an afternoon and enjoy some drinks and nibbles while watching sport on the projector. Or in Winter, snuggle up next to the fireplace with a red wine in hand. As they’re surrounded by bushland they wanted a pool to enjoy in the warmer months and one the kids could enjoy too.

Brief

Our client’s brief was to build a 50,000L infinity pool, entertaining area with a fireplace and ceiling projector on the ground floor as well as a 2nd floor counter leaver extension which would be their entertaining area.

Their vision was to maximise the use of space and create an area that would be perfect for entertaining and enjoying with friends and family.

Challenges

  • Sloping land
  • Tight access
  • Everything had to be hand dug
  • Long period of rain

Solution

We worked very closely with ROC Engineering and Passer Architects to come up with a solution on how we would construct an infinity pool on sloping land. A bit of extra propping and bracing and problem solved we constructed a floating platform.

We didn’t let the continuous weeks of rain stop us, instead we set up scaffolding and tarps over the whole pool and got on with it.

Key features

  • Infinity wet edge
  • Ceiling projector
  • Fireplace
  • Glass fence
  • Counter leaver entertaining area
