Ground floor additions & extensions

Are you constantly struggling with the amount of space in your home? Is it leaving you feeling cramped and frustrated?

Ground floor extensions are an increasingly popular choice for homeowners who want to create extra living areas without compromising on their valuable garden space. Whether it’s a ground floor addition for a bungalow, a 1930s semi, an extension on a terraced house, or an expansive double storey extension – home extensions and additions can add massive value to your property.

If you can relate to at least one of these:

✓ Struggling with lack of space.

✓ Realising that your yard just isn’t practical or being used effectively.

✓ Aren’t keen to extend your home upwards.

Then, a ground floor addition is what your home needs.

First floor & second storey additions

A second storey addition seems like a huge project when you put into perspective how much square footage you’re adding to the property. After all, you are creating a whole floor of new space for your family to live in. A second storey extension (otherwise known as a first-floor addition) is quite a difficult construction project to pull off, so it requires a team of skilled architects, trades and engineers to do it well. This is why we excel in creating the finest first-floor home additions and extensions.

Alfresco & glass room extensions

Owed to our wonderful climate and lush garden greenery, an alfresco room extension is the perfect home addition to an Australian home. Whether it’s a book and cup of coffee in the morning sun that you like or enjoying an evening with friends and family under the stars, the views from an alfresco home extension can fill you with so much such peace and content.

Budget

Sticking to a budget is always a challenge, so creating a budget for a renovation project you've never done before is an even bigger one. There are always remnants of horror stories going around about escalating costs and budget blow-outs. Luckily, you don’t need to worry about that when you partner with SGM. That’s because we will work with you and your architect to come up with the most cost-effective solution for your project.

Once we settle on your budget, we’ll work closely with our trade contacts to find materials and finishes that are within your budget (without compromising on their high-end quality). An example from one of our previous projects is a duplex we renovated in South Cronulla. The client had a limited budget but they wanted timber post finishes that were out of their price range. Instead, we selected timber looking aluminum posts that mimicked their appearance but costed much less.

The most important part is to ensure that your architect designs and delivers a plan that stays within the constraints of your budget. Then, we can work together on the rest to ensure we stay within it.When it comes to home renovation and home remodelling costs, building a practicable budget requires plenty of research and a plan. The build costs will depend on things like:

The material you want to use.

Fixtures and fittings.

The size and complexity of the job.

The condition of the home (existing plumbing problems, etc.)
